AI Agent Toolkit (MCP)

Generate pixel art directly from AI assistants using the Model Context Protocol server for Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf.

AI Agent Toolkit (MCP)

The SpriteSynth MCP (Model Context Protocol) server lets AI assistants like Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf generate pixel art, create characters, and manage projects — all through natural language.

What is MCP?

MCP is an open protocol that connects AI assistants to external tools and data sources. With the SpriteSynth MCP server, your AI agent gains the ability to:

  • Generate pixel art images from text descriptions
  • Create characters with multi-directional sprites
  • Build tilesets for game environments
  • Create game objects with states and animations
  • Edit and inpaint existing images
  • Export assets in game engine formats
  • List and manage projects and characters

Quick Start

1. Get an API Key

Generate an API key at spritesynth.com/account/api-keys.

2. Add to Claude Desktop

Add the MCP server to your Claude Desktop config (claude_desktop_config.json):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "spritesynth": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@spritesynth/mcp-server"],
      "env": {
        "SPRITESYNTH_API_KEY": "sk_live_xxx"
      }
    }
  }
}

3. Restart Claude Desktop

Quit and reopen Claude Desktop to load the new MCP server.

4. Start Creating

In a Claude conversation, try:

  • "Generate a 32x32 pixel art sword"
  • "Create a knight character with idle and walk animations"
  • "Make a dungeon tileset with stone floors and walls"

Game Builder

The Game Builder turns the MCP into a Game Pre-Production Studio. Design complete games through a conversational funnel — from elevator pitch to complete asset prompt tree.

Start with:

"Let's design a game using the game builder."

See the Game Builder Overview for details.
